Anatomic and kinetic interpretation of clinical dohsa-hou and its image analysis

Summary

The clinical dohsa therapy is known as one of psychological therapeutic methods that exploits body motion. The therapist uses verbal interaction with the client that makes him/her focus on the physical state of his/her own body, which is often compared with the execution of mindfulness, and helps them improve the motion that simultaneously expects to strengthen their sense of self-existence, self-affirmation, and stableness. The whole process in the therapy does not take the anatomical aspect of the motions into consideration, but establishing the correspondence between the conceptual manipulation of the motions and their anatomy makes its objective evaluation of the process possible, which must be useful for education of dohsa therapy as well. This presentation discusses the anatomical aspect of the example of dohsa therapy using raising-shoulder motion and introduces camera image analysis of clients’ body motions to obtain its Labanotation (a kind of dance score) in future.
