Stimuli-responsive properties of liquid-crystalline elastomers
Liquid-crystalline elastomers have attracted both industrial and scientific interest because of their stimuli-responsive properties as reversible strain actuation and soft elasticity. In this report, we show two experimental results about stimuli-responsive deformation such as “electric-field-induced deformation of side-chain chiral smectic A (SmA*) elastomers composed of cholesterol derivative mesogens” and “thermotropic reversible deformation of uniaxially oriented main-chain liquid-crystalline elastomers composed of BB-n mesogens”
